The Interactive Museum

A community-run museum in downtown Middletown, The Interactive Museum is a place for kids and families, built in an old firehouse. The first two floors have been renovated and opened to the public, with plans for further expansion. It’s a learning center dedicated to the exploration of math, science and technology through hands-on experiences like racing solar-powered toy cars. Regular programs are available.

Highland Lakes State Park


This great recreational getaway consists of more than 3,000 acres of pristine land and clear naturally occurring bodies of water. There’s something to do, whether you like fishing, hiking, swimming, horseback riding, flying model planes and more. There are plenty of picnic areas, and dogs are permitted on leashes.

Edwin Welling Van Duzer Memorial House


One of the city’s grandest old homes has been turned into a museum. The Edwin Welling Van Duzer Memorial House, built in old Middletown in 1887, is a representation of Victorian splendor. Tours are available through the Historical Society of Middletown & the Wallkill Precinct, which maintains the home.

Ring Homestead Camp


This outdoor adventure camp has all sorts of fun activities for every season of the year, including paintball courses, ropes course, hiking, fishing, camping and swimming. Whether you’re looking for a team leadership outing or just a great day outdoors, this facility has it all.

Above the Clouds Hot Air Balloon Rides


How does a majestic ride through the clouds above Hudson Valley sound? The rolling green hills and lush farmland of Orange County are a sight to bedazzle the eye. Above the Clouds Hot Air Balloon Rides also offers scenic sky tours of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Connecticut. Rides depart from Randall Airport twice a day, seven days a week May through November.
